A combination of photos from the line in Fu Xin China (first page) and the narrow gauge line in Huanan (bottom of page 2). We arrived at the shop in Fu Xin during a holiday week to see 8-SY class engines at rest. Eventually they moved one of the engines to the ash pit and loaded up with some coal. The workers only had basic clothing, including slippers for shoes. In Huanan we arrived after a HEAVY rainstorm and with the engines not being at the shops, headed out to find them. The dirt road beside the track turned into a pot-hole filled river of mud and we got stuck several times; the worst however was when we had to cross over several creeks. Where the train had a bridge, we laid out some 2x12 planks and drove over. It was only about a 12 foot drop into the creek but I'm sure it would have hurt if we went over. The Huanan line was closed shortly after this visit.
With grey skies the norm, I decided to do some night shots, much to the locals' amusement.
